Focus: Stress Reduction and Expressing Emotional Needs OverviewThis group session aims to combine the principles of equine-assisted therapy with expressive arts to foster emotional well-being and stress relief among women. Participants will engage in creative activities alongside horses, facilitating a deeper connection to their feelings, needs, and personal experiences. Session Structure1. Welcome and Introduction (15 minutes)2. Grounding Exercise with Horses (20 minutes)Participants will spend time with the horses in a quiet area. Focus on mindfulness and being present, using breathing techniques to calm the mind. Participants will listen to the horses and observe their behaviors, allowing for a connection that fosters emotional awareness.
3. Expressive Arts Activity (40 minutes)Transition to an outdoor or indoor art area. Provided materials such as paints, pastels, and collage supplies. Prompt participants to create artwork that represents their current emotional state or stress triggers, using horses as inspiration. Encourage participants to reflect on their artwork and the emotions it evokes.
4. Group Sharing and Reflection (20 minutes)Participants will have the opportunity to share their artwork and their thoughts on the process if they feel comfortable. Facilitate a discussion around the emotions experienced during the creative process and any insights gained from the horses.
5. Movement and Connection (15 minutes)Engage in a movement activity that fosters connection with the horses, such as walking with them or gentle grooming.
